The Portuguese is seriously under-fire at Old Trafford after being outclassed by rivals Liverpool on Sunday
Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho as manager on Tuesday morning – and it is set to cost them a fortune.
The Red Devils board decided to act with the club 19 points off the Premier League leaders after 17 games, and 11 adrift of Chelsea in the Champions League places.
However, the decision to dispense with Mourinho’s services will prove costly for the club.
Just 11 months ago, the 55-year-old signed an improved deal taking him to June 2020.
And it is understood United will have to pay up the rest of his contract, meaning Mourinho will bank a staggering £24million from his sacking.

Mourinho is the third boss to receive a huge payout since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
David Moyes received around £5m after being axed in 2014 while Louis van Gaal received a similar amount when he was shown the door in 2016.
