Selena Gomez has been keeping a low profile since October, when it was reported that she had entered an East Coast treatment facility to address anxiety and “emotional issues.” The singer and actress, who underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 to help treat her lupus, is said to have sought mental health treatment after reportedly suffering a panic attack triggered by anxiety over medical setbacks which resulted in two hospitalizations in recent months.
Gomez has been out of the spotlight ever since she began treatment, which reportedly includes dialectical behavior therapy to curb negative thoughts. New photos, however, show the star back in public and enjoying time with friends.
The 26-year-old reunited with former Wizards of Waverly Place co-star Bailee Madison for a day of snow tubing in Big Bear, Calif., on Tuesday. While Gomez has taken a break from social media since late September, Madison’s Instagram shows the pals hitting the slopes in their winter gear. (Yes, that sweatshirt Gomez is wearing is from BFF Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” stadium tour.)
Model Connar Franklin also shared photos from the fun-filled excursion.
Gomez’s reemergence is being celebrated by her fans.
“I can’t describe in words how happy I am to see her back,” read one comment. “Hope she stays happy and healthy forever.”
“My angel is back,” added a fan.
“Thank you for [letting] us see Selena happy and healthy again,” another supporter wrote.
A source tells E! News that the singer is indeed on the mend.
“[She] truly is in a much better place,” the source shared. “She feels refreshed and is in a better head space.”
But while the former Disney star is all smiles here, people close to the singer say that she’s continuing to make her health a priority.
She’s “checking in with professionals as her health battle is ongoing,” the source added.
