The grieving dad of twins allegedly murdered by their mum has revealed how messages from strangers are helping him cope with the tragedy.
Toddlers Chloe and Jake Ford, who were 23-months-old, were found dying less than an hour after mum Samantha had been involved in a car crash and taken to hospital.
The twins were pronounced dead in hospital after being found at their home in Margate.
Samantha, 37, has been charged with murder and sobbed as she appeared in court yesterday.
Dad Steven has been posting pictures of his “beautiful babies” ‘for the world to see’ on Twitter and has been inundated with messages of support from kind-hearted well-wishers and has revealed how “every message helps”.
When a friend asked Steven: “How r u coping I’m sorry if you are getting fed up with people asking you that.”
He replied: “I keep reading the all of the kind words of support from everyone. People don’t even know me but they care. Every message helps, even if it’s just for a moment.”
One well-wisher wrote: “I don’t know you but from one dad to the next, it’s ok not to be ok. Please get help when you’re struggling. Speak out. Dark times are ahead but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. You’re not on an easy journey, the people are behind you. Stay strong pal.”
Another said: “Cannot even begin to imagine the strength you will need to get through this. But read the comments. The whole world is with you buddy. Stay strong. Do it for them. Xxxx
And another stranger said they were praying for him saying: “My heart completely goes out to you Steven Ford. Its completely heart breaking what you must be going through. You are in my thoughts. I hope you have a good support network to get you through this difficult time. Keep strong, I keep you in my prayers. xxxxxxxx”
Yesterday as mum Samantha appeared in court Steven posted a new picture of his ‘beautiful babies he wants the world to see’.
Posting a picture of his children lying asleep on his chest, Steven wrote: “I want the world to see my beautiful babies. Jake and Chloe forever xxx”.
The day before he shared another heartbreaking image of Jake kissing his sister on the forehead.
Steven captioned it: “Daddy’s twins xxx my beautiful babies. I love you.”
Just four days before the incident, the father had tweeted another photo, showing him smiling while cuddled up with his daughter.
He wrote: “Snuggling with my fave girl #daughter #myworld #twins.”
The twins were found at the property in Castle Drive after emergency crews attended the scene in the early hours of Thursday.
Samantha was detained following the discovery. She was later charged with two counts of murder, Kent Police said in a statement.
The force said: “At around 3.35am on Thursday December 27, 2018 officers attended a property in Castle Drive, Margate, due to concerns for the welfare of the occupants.
“The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and two young children were taken to hospital, where they were later confirmed deceased.
“Samantha Ford, aged 37 and of Castle Drive, Margate, was arrested and on December 28, following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, was charged with two counts of murder.”
It is thought she and Steven had bought a home in Ashford, Kent, a year ago, but it is not known if they had split up.
A neighbour said: “It’s such a shocking incident. There’s a lot of young children and families round here so it really resonates for them.
“And it’s a horrible time of year for it to happen. I feel very sorry for the family.”
