The German playmaker has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after being left out of several matchday squads
Mesut Ozil’s agent insists the Arsenal star has no desire to leave the club despite reports linking him with a January switch.
The German playmaker has been linked with a move away after falling out of favour under Gunners boss Unai Emery.
Ozil has been left out of the starting XI, and even the matchday squad, on several occasions this season, however his agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, says the midfielder plans to stay until at least the end of his contract in 2021 and possibly beyond.
Dr. Sogut told Goal: “I would prefer not to speak publicly about Mesut’s situation but, given the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Arsenal, I do feel it is important to provide some clarity, so we can end this and focus on football.
“Mesut signed a new contract last January, because he saw his future at Arsenal, and nothing has changed in his mind.
“He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.
“Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club.
“He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.
“He is proud to wear the shirt and honoured to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch.
“He takes his responsibilities – including being selected as one of the captains this season – very seriously and has a great relationship with his team-mates, the staff and fans.”
Arsenal boss Emery has also insisted there is a future for Ozil at Arsenal.
Speaking in recent weeks, he said: “I want every player with a good mentality to help us. He can give us his quality and his characteristics.
“We need Mesut Ozil.
“Every player wants to play and help the team when we need them. The frustration is the same for everybody when they haven’t played a match.
“I have told him what we need from him. He has the commitment to help us and the quality and the characteristics to help us when the team need him on the pitch.”
