Police have warned the public ‘not to approach’ a missing 12-year-old boy.

Anyone spotting Alfie Benson should dial 999 instead, Greater Manchester Police said.

His details have been posed on the Facebook page of GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme and Burnage.

Alfie – who has links to Blackpool, Manchester and Clitheroe and was reported missing before Christmas – was ‘seen within the last week’ in the Parrs Wood area of Didsbury, the police division said.

He is known to frequent shops in the area, according to GMP.

The force published his photograph on social media as part of the ongoing appeal.

GMP said he is known to frequent Parrs Wood Road, Parkville Road, Wilmslow Road and Parsonage Road.

The appeal said: “Please do not approach this male and if seen call 999.”

The Facebook appeal said: “Have you seen this male?

“Missing Person Alfie BENSON 12yrs seen within the last week around the Parrs Wood area.

“He is known to frequent Parrs Wood Road, Parkville Road, Wilmslow Road and Parsonage Road, especially the shops in this area.

“Please do not approach this male and if seen call 999 quoting missing person reference MP/17/0108142

“Thank you for your assistance.”
